1Password Families: How private is it?

I’m thinking about migrating from LastPass and using 1Password as my password manager because it’s more secure. I saw there’s a family plan that’s more affordable, and I was thinking about subscribing through Kotas (a service-sharing website), but I’d like to know if the other members of the group will also have access to my passwords? Could someone who subscribes to this plan let me know about that? And by the way, does anyone know if it’s possible to migrate all passwords from LastPass to 1Password?

  • Everyone in your family has their own Private vault. You can’t see what’s in theirs, and they can’t see what’s in yours. Store things like your email login and social media passwords in your Private vault.
  • 1Password Families includes a Shared vault for items everyone in your family needs. It’s a great place for your Wi-Fi password and Netflix login, for example.

Based on the support information, yes, each member has their own vault.
However, the family account has an “organizer member.” I don’t know what level of access this member has to the vaults.

honest question: why do you think 1Password is more secure? Do you use the paid version of LastPass? When switching, are you planning to enter all passwords one by one or use some method to optimize this?

I also use LastPass and it’s what I’ve gotten used to for now. I’d switch if I was sure the whole effort was worth it hehehe

I’m wary of LastPass because of the news about password leaks and security flaws. It’s an excellent app, but its reputation isn’t the best. Since I hear good things about 1Password, I decided to give it a try. I plan to import all my passwords into 1Password, but if that’s not possible, the switch becomes unfeasible because I’ve accumulated too many passwords.

I just did the import and it was a very smooth process. LastPass itself generates a text, and from there you just paste it into 1Password.

since I saw you can split it into quotas, I’ll take a look to see how much it comes out to.

At least the Android app is better than LastPass’s, because often when I was going to enter a password, LastPass struggled to recognize the fields. From what I’ve seen, 1Password is more automatic about it.
