ABYA just released more details about the service launch.

I just got this email from ABYA about GeForce Now Priority…

6 months will cost $54.90 and 12 months the same $99.

That’s right, the prices are charged in dollars. :smiling_face_with_tear::smiling_face_with_tear::smiling_face_with_tear:

570 batteries/year… it’s not cheap, but…

That’s R$45 a month. It doesn’t seem that absurd to me. Netflix is more expensive while using only 10% of the hardware.

Did you test the beta?

Is it better or worse than xCloud?

That’s more or less the price I imagined it would be, but I thought at least the charge would come through in Reais.

Yeah, I thought so too…

If charged like that, it will come out to around 60 to 65 reais/month depending on the card issuer.

The base charge is 10 dollars. You’re forgetting about the IOF and the conversion from dollars to reais charged by card networks and banks.

With GPU prices completely out of control in Brazil and around the world, proposals like this end up gaining a veneer of feasibility. But in practice, what’s the Cloud Gaming experience like in Brazil? Especially for those who live far from major urban centers and/or servers?

And after all, what is this thing called ABYA? Is it some NVIDIA partner company with the potential to eventually make the service more expensive (along the lines of Xiaomi > DL)?

I can’t speak for outside major cities, but my experience with xCloud and GeForce Now has been quite satisfactory.

We need to hear from people living further inland to get a better idea.

About ABYA, it’s a Uruguayan company specialized in cloud computing. It’s nVidia’s partner in the Latin America region.

The servers are currently located in Uruguay, but ABYA has stated they intend to expand to more regions, so we’ll have at least 7 more in the region and about 2 in Brazil.

Same price as Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (which includes Xcloud), but still much cheaper than having your own hardware. The advantage of Game Pass is that it already includes the games. As for GeForce Now, you can play practically any game you have in your Steam, Epic Games, and Origin libraries.

The only thing that struck me as odd is the USD charge in Brazil—if the card is Santander, I don’t think it even works. Other than that, the price isn’t absurd; a current game goes for about 300 bucks, which would already pay for 6 months of the service. 60/month is very reasonable.

People have gotten way too used to Game Pass offering 3 months for 5 reais all the time, and they’ll assume everyone will do that.

xcloud seems more interesting, even for me as a Linux user

To pay less IOF:

  1. C6 or BS2 global account
  2. Nomad or Avenue US account (the former accepts deposits via Western Union with lower spread than the app’s currency exchange solution)

But you still have to convert reals to dollars, which is still expensive, right? (It might be a little cheaper, but it won’t make much difference from what Wardz said)

Honestly, I’d rather pay that amount for GeForce Now than pay for a Netflix subscription. Too bad you also have to pay the IOF tax.

Are they still limiting which specific games you can play? I remember some company asked to have all their games removed.

I’m not sure I fully understood what you meant — some games from certain developers aren’t available.

I heard that at the beginning, for instance, Kerbal Space Program was there, but support was removed.

Another popular game that apparently was there but got removed is Fall Guys.

Other than that, last week EA was added to the global GeForce Now catalog, and as I understand it, the goal is to make the entire portfolio available over time.

I was reminded of this:

At the time, Activision Blizzard and Bethesda asked for their games to be removed from the service.

Otherwise, the price isn’t absurd; a current game costs around 300 bucks, which would already cover 6 months of the service. 60/month is quite feasible.

I wouldn’t say a high price is a problem for something like Xcloud where the games are included, but GFN still depends on the games you own, on top of that not all of them are available. In the medium term, I just can’t see it being worth it. Microsoft’s service ends up being more attractive, since for those who already have a PC or console, they can play many games locally, and away from home they can use another device to play via the cloud. And for those who don’t have a PC or console, they already start with a pretty interesting library.

I updated the post with new information from ABYA!

Should we wait for prices in Reais and local servers to come out? Or is xCloud a better deal?
