How to unlock the BIOS to install Linux on the Acer F5-573LJ laptop?

I have an Acer laptop with Windows 10, but it only accepts Windows. The BIOS is locked for Linux. How do I unlock the BIOS so it accepts Linux? The BIOS is EFI/UEFI type

Without knowing the model, there’s no way to help.
But the best way to find out is to search for “Install linux ” and you should find something (that’s basically what I do if someone asks me).

You must enter a password in the BIOS (it can be a simple one like 123), then you can change that legacy option

Thank you very much to everyone who helped me!! I’m happy with my laptop running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. I managed to install it!!

Nowadays I don’t recommend switching to legacy; Ubuntu is fully capable of running on UEFI. If you pay attention to the process, you don’t even need to disable Secure Boot (but I do disable it because not all distributions support Secure Boot).

Disable Secure Boot in the BIOS and try installing in UEFI mode. If it doesn’t work or gives an error, switch to Legacy mode — that should do the trick.
