The price of the basic S21 is similar to the Note 20, but the S21 has 5G. On the flip side, it doesn’t come with a charger or earphones (I don’t need earphones, but the charger situation is kinda messed up lol).
So, what do you guys think is better? Note 20 or S21?
5G today only has DSS, which doesn’t change anything for the user compared to 4G, so it’s completely unnecessary.

According to Samsung’s website, the S21 has IP68, it’s dual SIM, but iPhone style where it’s 1 nano SIM and an eSIM.
Up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes, or 4 meters for 30 minutes? I’ve found websites and YouTubers that disagree on this.
- The Galaxy S21 5G and Galaxy S21+ 5G have an IP68 rating based on test conditions for submersion in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. Not recommended for use at the beach or pool.
Oh okay, I want the waterproof one because I usually keep a phone for a few years. I bought a Mi 9T that got damaged from rain… I also like these Samsung phones because of the USB-C with HDMI support (I already have an adapter for it).
So buddy, first let me tell you that both the Note 20 and the S21 support 5G DSS — it’s only the S20 and Note 10 lines and older that are 4G-only! Second, if you don’t usually use the S Pen and don’t see the need, and considering you want to keep the device for a long time, go with the S21, because since it’s newer, it’ll have software support for a longer period!!

It’s not waterproof. Few actually are. But IP68 is already well established and has been getting improvements.
I’d go with the S21 today. I have a Note 20 and I don’t use the stylus much, and I end up avoiding using it because it keeps scratching the screen.
Also, they say the Exynos 2100 is much more power-efficient than the Exynos 990, which is something, because even with the Note 20’s 4300mAh battery, it can’t get good battery life.
Oh, and the Note 20, even in the most basic versions, has 5G and 256GB of storage (the S21 only has 128GB).
Nowadays any top-of-the-line Samsung phone will give you protection against rain and submersion in water, but I don’t recommend doing that. I’ve already lost two phones due to water, one being an S10 and an iPhone 7.
The regular Note 20, to me, is less cool than the Note 10+, and the S21 is more on point. Those who have used it have praised the battery life and performance a lot. I would go with the S21 or Note 10+.
