Is Pix already working?

I’m asking because I see a lot of news about open registration for Pix.

Okay. But can I already make a transfer using Pix without using DOC or TED?

And how do I make a transfer with Pix?

Thanks for the help.

Well, as far as I recall, the launch is on 11/16, and what’s open right now is just the registration of Pix keys.

All your questions have already been answered here:

I wish there was a way to create a custom key that isn’t personal (email/phone/ID number) and that would be easy. The random key is 35 characters—it’s impractical to pass that to someone/a store verbally. I wish I could create my own key. Like: breno123.

Is there any chance this key could become a QR code?

But in these cases, I think QR Code would work, or am I mistaken?

Yes, that’s possible. A QR code is essentially just text inside a “drawing.” In fact, I think QR codes will become really popular with this PIX system, but I still prefer the option of creating a small, simple code—as easy as passing along a CPF, but a key with no personal data.

The closest you can get to what you want is to create a separate email address for that.

We have 4 types of keys and 5 possible keys to use on a personal account, so there’s one left over for you to create an email unrelated to your main email and use it only for Pix, like pixdobreno@aol.com

Good thinking, that workaround is a good one. And that’s exactly what I’m going to do! The only hassle is having to register the email with the financial institution too, because when we choose email, we can only pick the one we registered with the bank.

Here at Itaú, it let me type the email when registering the PIX key

Um, good to know. I tried it at Inter and there’s a checkbox to confirm the email there.

Then I checked on Nubank, and it also lets you enter any email.

Yes, because I can register UP TO 5 keys. I can put renan@gmail.com, renan@outlook.com, renan@globo.com, etc, etc. Why not, right? lol

The thing is, it would turn into that mess you see on Instagram. Within two years, the new PIX keys would be things like @Silvi.nha_69 because there wouldn’t be a username for everyone.

For me, even using a phone number is a bad idea, since in Brazil, if you don’t use a number for 3 months, the carriers recycle it and it stays tied to the old user’s account. They should put a way to change it, but… I think the ideal is just using the CPF, email (since Google and co. don’t allow email reuse), and the random key itself.

But really, 35 characters was ridiculous. For regular users (CPF), it could be 6 to 8 characters (which would give at least 4 keys per person), and for legal entities (CNPJ), they could leave the codes longer.

The “random number” is a universal identifier called a UUID. Its purpose isn’t to be sent to anyone, but rather to be used in communication between systems. For example, this ID is ideal for generating QR Codes for payments.

In our case, since we have accounts at several banks for different situations, we created, for example, bs2@mydomain.com, bradesco@mydomain.com

Actually, that’s its main function.

But I meant whether I could send it and the banking app read it. Like a barcode, and it would process the payment right away.

I explained it here in this other post how the initiation will work. It isn’t just the random key, but a larger block of text that contains several other pieces of information.

Long story short, what you want will be available from launch day, with a dynamic QR code and by copying and pasting that text. A way to just click a button on websites and have it open your banking app will also be implemented in the future.

I wish there was an option to create a custom key that’s not personal (email/phone/CPF) and is easy.

With Banco do Brasil, that’s possible. You can go to create a random key and customize it—I actually did that. I don’t think other banks and payment methods have this option yet. I already registered my key, which looks something like „pix-bb-myname“.
