Has anyone seen the Samsung TU8000 and the TCL C715 side by side — which one has the better picture? Which offers better value for money? Does the slower system of the C715 become annoying?
I need to replace my TV. My previous one was a Samsung 49KU6400 bought in 2017. I liked the system, but recently an LED strip went bad and left part of the screen dark, and now it won’t turn on at all — I hear a crackling sound coming from that area, as if there’s a poor connection. Another frequent issue was the remote control starting to have faulty buttons, so I had to buy a used third-party one that works better.
Android TV, for me, is almost a dealbreaker when choosing a TV. It’s always a letdown when I test a TV with a fast system (Tizen or Roku) and then come across an Android TV with stuttering animations and apps that randomly slow down. But I think that’s something only you can decide. Some people are fans of it.
Does the Tizen on the TU 7000 fall into the category you consider fast? Because I have one and I find the system quite sluggish (the menu part, not the internal navigation of the apps themselves).
The Tizen on my TV is an older model, the UN49KU6400, and I think it’s good, much faster than the Android TV I use on my Xiaomi Mi Stick. I thought the sluggishness in navigation was caused by the Mi Stick’s simple hardware (1GB of RAM), so I was unsure if a TCL device (which might have more robust hardware) would offer faster, lag-free navigation. But Higa already gave me some insight on that. Tizen is simple but quite functional; the only thing I like about Android TV is the ability to install many other apps, which is more limited on Tizen.
